Understanding How Artificial Intelligence Recommends Brands

§ 01 · Company Overview

About GOSH AI .

GOSH AI is the AI Recommendation & Discovery Intelligence platform. ARDI™(AI Recommendation and Discovery Intelligence) is the proprietary measurement system at the heart of the platform: the framework that quantifies how AI models describe, cite, and recommend brands. Through ARDI™, GOSH AI tracks these patterns continuously across categories, geographies, and stages of buyer intent.

For two decades, marketing leaders optimized for being found. The category shift now underway moves the question from can buyers find us to do AI systems recommend us. The two are not the same. Search rewarded brands that ranked. AI rewards brands that earn citation, recommendation, and trust inside a generative answer.

GOSH AI exists to measure that recommendation behavior continuously, surface where brands stand inside it, and equip marketing leaders to build authority for AI discovery. The work is not search engine optimization with a new label. It is a different practice, built for a different technology layer, where AI interprets meaning, weighs authority, and chooses trusted answers rather than displaying lists of links.

Our Mission

AI now sits between buyers and the brands they choose. GOSH AI exists to make that layer measurable, the authority that shapes it defensible, and the consequence of ignoring it visible.

§ 02 · The Industry Shift

From search results to AI recommendations .

The transition from search-led discovery to AI-mediated recommendation is documented across every major analyst firm. The data converges. The strategic implication does not.

Gartner
25%
Search engine volume drop projected by 2026 as buyers shift to AI assistants and answer engines.
McKinsey
$750B
Generative-AI economic impact by 2028; 50% adoption; 20-50% organic traffic loss for unprepared brands.
Bain & Company
80%
Of consumers now use AI-generated summaries during the buying journey; 60% of searches end without a click.
Forrester
94%
Of B2B buyers use AI tools during research; only 1 in 10 AI answers receives a click-through to source.

§ 03 · Flagship Research

The Authority Gap .

GOSH AI's flagship research, drawn from 75,000+ AI citations across 8,000+ brands, identifies a structural pattern in how AI systems handle category authority. Most brands occupy one of four positions, and the rarest one is the one most companies assume they hold.

State 01

Full Authority
AI cites you and recommends you.
You are both trusted and chosen. The strongest position, and the rarest.

State 02

Borrowed Authority
AI recommends you but does not cite you.
You may be visible, but your proof layer is weak. Vulnerable to displacement.

State 03

Unconverted Authority
AI cites you but does not recommend you.
You have trust signals, but they are not converting into selection. Recognition without recommendation.

State 04

Invisible
AI neither cites nor recommends you.
You are absent from the AI-mediated decision path. The most urgent state to address.

§ 04 · The Platform

ARDI™ in three layers .

GOSH AI delivers ARDI™ as a three-layer platform. Each layer answers a different question. Together, they give marketing leaders a continuous read on AI recommendation behavior, a benchmark to measure against, and a moving picture of how their position is changing.

01 · Diagnose
Snapshot
A point-in-time diagnostic
A point-in-time diagnostic of AI recommendation presence.
A lightweight diagnostic baseline. Shows whether AI surfaces the brand, who is recommended instead, how AI describes them, and whether deeper Authority work is warranted.
02 · Benchmark
Authority
The proprietary benchmark
The proprietary benchmark for AI trust, citation, recommendation, and displacement.
The standardized scoring framework. A 26-prompt buyer-journey baseline tested against 6 AI models, with the four-state authority classification, a 90-day phased authority roadmap, and a complete citation landscape.
03 · Track
Signal
A compounding intelligence layer
A compounding intelligence layer that tracks AI recommendation behavior over time.
The data moat. Month-over-month movement, displacement patterns, category-level visibility shifts, model-by-model variance, citation-to-recommendation conversion, and emerging patterns.

Snapshot shows where you stand. Authority shows whether AI trusts and recommends you. Signal shows how that position is changing over time.

Search created rankings. Social created attention graphs. AI is creating recommendation markets.

§ 05 · The ARDI™ Research Base

The largest AI recommendation dataset in commercial use .

GOSH AI's research base is built on continuous, structured measurement. Every observation is reproducible. Every finding is anchored in real prompt data, not anecdote.

75,000+
AI citations analyzed across the buyer journey.
8,000+
Brands and entities tracked across categories.
6
Leading AI models continuously monitored.
70+
Categories spanning consumer, B2B, healthcare, and franchise systems.

Platforms tracked: ChatGPT · Claude · Gemini · Perplexity · Grok · Microsoft Copilot

§ 06 · The Shift

From search to AI discovery .

The mechanics of how a buyer finds a brand have fundamentally changed. The intermediating layer is no longer a list of links. It is a generated answer that names specific brands, often with reasoning, sometimes with citations.

Traditional Search Era
01
User asks a question Typed query, keywords
02
Search engine processes query Google or Bing
03
Search results page appears List of websites and links
04
User scans options Visual triage of titles and snippets
05
User chooses a brand Click-through, evaluate, decide
AI Discovery Era
01
User asks a question Conversational, full-sentence intent
02
AI assistant processes query ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Grok
03
AI generates a direct answer Natural language response, often with citations
04
AI selects brands to mention Pre-selection happens before any human evaluation
05
AI recommends specific brands The brand surfaced is the brand considered

GOSH AI studies and influences the recommendation layer of AI discovery.
