How AI Decides What to Recommend
And how GOSH AI measures, tracks, and improves it — using real data from real AI models across every major platform.
The foundational reference for everything in the ARDI™ platform.

What Is ARDI™?
ARDI™ measures how AI models recommend brands — and gives you the intelligence to change the outcome.
It tracks how models like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and Grok decide who shows up in generated answers — and who doesn’t. When someone asks AI for a recommendation in your category, ARDI™ tells you whether your brand is part of that answer, how it’s positioned, and what your competitors are doing differently.
ARDI™ encompasses multiple disciplines — including Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), entity structuring, content authority building, and citation amplification — unified under a single intelligence framework that measures what actually matters: whether AI recommends you.

THE MEASUREMENT
The ARDI™ Authority Score
The ARDI™ Authority Score is a composite score from 0 to 100 that reflects how strongly AI models recognize, trust, and recommend your brand. It’s calculated from real AI model testing across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and Grok — not estimates or projections.
The score combines three dimensions: Visibility(how often AI mentions you), Sentiment(how positively AI describes you), and Positioning(how prominently you appear in AI-generated answers).
Your score determines your tier classification: Critical, Low, Developing, Moderate, Established, or Category Leader. Each tier reflects where you sit on the authority spectrum — and what it takes to move up.
What the Score Measures
Frequency of brand mentions across AI models
Confidence and tone of AI recommendations
Position within AI-generated answer hierarchies
Consistency across 5 major AI platforms
Performance across Think, Discovery & Decision stages
0–20: Critical
AI rarely or never mentions your brand
21–45: Developing
Inconsistent presence, weak signals
46–70: Established
Recognized but not consistently leading
71–100: Leader
AI’s go-to recommendation in your category
THE DISTINCTION
AI Discovery Intelligence vs. Traditional SEO
SEO ranks pages. AI chooses brands.
These are not the same system — and success in one does not guarantee success in the other. Here’s why the distinction matters.
Traditional SEO
Optimizing for search engine results pages
Returns a list of links
Ranks based on crawlable content & backlinks
User clicks through to discover
Measured by page position (1–10)
“Page two” still exists
ARDI™
AI Discovery Intelligence
Measuring and influencing AI recommendations
Returns a direct recommendation
Selects based on trust, authority & training signals
AI synthesizes and chooses for the user
Measured by inclusion, sentiment & position
There is no “page two” — you’re in or you’re out
Do they work together?
Yes. SEO and AI Discovery Intelligence are complementary. Strong SEO can contribute to the authority signals AI models use. But SEO alone does not guarantee AI visibility. GOSH AI has documented cases where brands ranking on the first page of Google do not appear in a single AI-generated recommendation in their category. The two systems are independent — and organizations that invest in both are positioned for discovery wherever buyers look.
Where does GEO fit?
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the practice of optimizing content so AI models can detect, trust, and recommend your brand. It’s one tactical discipline within the broader ARDI™ framework — alongside entity structuring, content authority building, and citation amplification.
GEO is an arrow.
ARDI™ is the quiver.

AI DECISION-MAKING
How AI Models Decide What to Recommend
AI doesn’t rank pages. It makes decisions.
Understanding those decisions is the foundation of AI discovery intelligence.
SIGNAL
Training Data & Content Authority
AI models build brand associations from the patterns they absorb during training and retrieval — web content, reviews, industry publications, structured data, and authority signals. Brands with fragmented content, inconsistent naming, or thin third-party validation are often overlooked entirely.
Impact
Determines whether AI knows you exist
Key Factors
Content clarity
Source consistency
Third-party signals
SIGNAL
Entity Recognition & Trust
AI models need to resolve your brand as a distinct entity — not a generic term, not a competitor, not a hallucinated version of your business. Strong entity signals (structured data, consistent naming, knowledge graph presence) build the trust that leads to confident recommendations.
Impact
Determines whether AI trusts you enough to recommend
Key Factors
Entity structure
Brand consistency
Knowledge graph
SIGNAL
Intent Matching & Context
AI evaluates whether your brand is relevant to what the user actually asked. A buyer asking “best pilates studios near me” gets a different answer than “how does pilates compare to yoga.” Your content must speak to all three intent stages — Think, Discovery, and Decision — or AI will surface competitors who do.
Impact
Determines whether AI matches you to the right queries
Key Factors
Intent coverage
Journey mapping
Query relevance
HOW WE MEASURE IT
The ARDI™ Testing Methodology
GOSH AI doesn’t estimate visibility. We test it. Here’s how the ARDI™ platform produces scores, signals, and actionable intelligence from real AI model outputs.
01
Structured Prompt Testing
Real questions actual buyers ask — run across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and Grok. Organized across Think (research), Discovery (comparison), and Decision (ready to act) intent stages.
02
Brand Mention Extraction
Every AI response is recorded. Every brand mention is extracted, normalized, and attributed to the correct entity — filtering out noise, hallucinations, and generic references.
03
VSP Scoring Per Model
Visibility, Sentiment, and Positioning scored 0–100 for each AI platform individually. You see exactly where each model stands on your brand — and where the gaps are.
04
Competitor Displacement Analysis
AI answer share modeling: who owns the conversation in your category, what percentage each competitor captures, and where you can displace them. Surgical intelligence, not generic benchmarking.
05
Misattribution & Hallucination Audit
What AI gets wrong about you — brand confusion, speculative facts, missing product knowledge. Per-model severity ratings with specific corrections documented.
06
Authority Roadmap
A phased action plan: Entity Foundation, Content Authority, Citation Amplification. Mapped to the AI models and buying-journey stages where your brand has the highest-impact opportunity to move.

Voice Search & Conversational AI
Voice assistants like Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant rely on AI models to generate spoken answers. Unlike a screen full of search results, a voice response typically gives one recommendation — and there is no second place. As conversational AI becomes embedded in cars, smart speakers, phones, and wearables, voice-first discovery is becoming a critical channel. ARDI™ measures how brands are surfaced in voice-prompted AI responses and identifies what determines whether your brand is the one spoken aloud.
QUICK REFERENCE
Common Questions
Why does AI discovery matter right now? +
Hundreds of millions of people now use AI models as their primary way to research products, services, and brands. Instead of scanning ten blue links, they ask a question and receive a direct answer with specific brand recommendations. If your brand is not part of that answer, you don’t get a second chance — there is no “page two” in AI. The brands that understand and measure their AI visibility today are the ones that will be recommended tomorrow.
Can my brand rank well on Google but be invisible to AI? +
Yes, and it happens more often than most brands realize. Google rankings are based on crawlable content, backlinks, and technical SEO signals. AI recommendations are based on entirely different factors — how the model was trained, what patterns it absorbed, and whether your brand’s authority signals are strong enough to surface in a synthesized answer. GOSH AI has documented cases where brands on Google’s first page do not appear in a single AI-generated recommendation in their category.
What is Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)? +
GEO is the practice of optimizing content and brand signals so AI systems can detect, trust, and recommend your brand inside generated answers, summaries, and voice responses. It is one tactical discipline within the broader ARDI™ framework. Where SEO optimizes for search engine rankings, GEO optimizes for inclusion in AI-generated recommendations. ARDI™ measures the results of GEO and every other signal-building effort through its VSP scoring methodology.
What makes GOSH AI different from other agencies? +
GOSH AI is not a marketing agency. It is an AI Recommendation & Discovery Intelligence company built from the ground up to measure and improve how AI models recommend brands. The ARDI™ platform tests real prompts across real AI models, produces real scores, and tracks real movement over time. Every insight is based on observed AI behavior — not assumptions, not keyword proxies, not estimated impressions. No other company operates with this level of specificity in AI discovery intelligence.
How long does it take to see measurable improvement? +
Most brands begin to see measurable changes in AI visibility within 60 to 90 days, depending on existing authority signals, category competitiveness, and engagement scope. GOSH AI tracks progress monthly through the ARDI™ Authority Score, so movement is visible from the start. Long-term positioning as a Category Leader requires sustained effort across two to three quarters.
